America’s Finest City, San Diego, has celebrations occurring every week. Here are some of the most memorable:
The San Diego County Fair, held every year, is a two week celebration for the whole family. Full of carnival rides for adults and children, animal displays from the San Diego Zoo and local residents, children’s art shows, and over 100 food booths featuring fair food like fried twinkies and fried soda. Don’t miss the Fourth of July parade.
Balboa Parks December is a two day celebration of the holiday season. The beautiful park grounds are covered in lights and decorations, and all of the museums offer free admission. Performances by local theatres and ballets grace the outdoors stage. The International Village features holiday celebrations from around the world.
Comic-Con is one of the big tourist events in San Diego. A celebration of all things geek, including comic books, videogames, and movies, this event draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to the area every year.
San Diego is home to a large number of Asian immigrants who host a spectacular parade every Chinese New Years. Featuring, food, dance, martial arts, and, of course, a parade with a gigantic dragon, this free event is the perfect destination for international-minded families.
