homelssness

Homelessness is a need that exists throughout the county, across a range of categories. Not all homeless people are downtown, and not all suffer from addictions or mental health afflictions. The Season of Service offers a variety of opportunities to serve multiple categories of homelessness, including but not limited to the following:

San Diego Habitat for Humanity (SDHFH)

SDHFH builds simple and affordable homes for ownership by local families in need. Our mission is to eliminate poverty housing and substandard living conditions in San Diego County and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

We invite CityFest participants to help us build a “Season of Service” home in National City from start to finish through volunteer labor and contributions of money and materials. We want to involve as many local Luis Palau participating congregations as possible and combine our volunteer efforts to support a hardworking family in our community.

Season of Service Homeless Impact Event- Sleepless San Diego (April 24):

sleepless

The San Diego CityFest with Luis Palau Season of Service Kick-off at Sleepless was a HUGE SUCCESS!!  500 sleepers came to stay for the night and many more visited the evening expo.  The evening was filled with music from the main stage, a presentation by San Diego CityFest Director Chris McFarland, and even recognition from San Diego City Mayor Jerry Sanders

And as evening turned to night, a mix of glow sticks provided by San Diego CityFest staff and San Diegans sleeping on cots created a heart-warming scene.  San Diego truly does care about its homeless community.

And this is only the start …   Continue to be a part of this Season of Service…. Click here to learn about our next “High-Impact” service event – Hunger, Not on This Day.

Individual and Family Sponsorships

Recovery and equipping ministries offer a permanent solution for homeless individuals and families. A key part of these programs is establishing encouraging and supportive relationships for those who graduate from the programs. Churches are the "family" that can provide that support. Contact Herb for more information.

Amor Ministries

Amor transforms lives by providing homes for impoverished families in Tijuana, Mexico; Johannesburg, South Africa; and the San Carlos Apache Reservation, Arizona.  Contact Andrea for more information.
