Mentoring is important because life can be difficult. Everyone benefits from the involvement of additional support from someone who can spend time with them and talk on a personal level. The Season of Service will provide a variety of opportunities for individuals to begin ongoing relationships with those who want and need that extra bonding experience.

To find out how you can get involved meeting mentoring needs, contact Charles Patmon.

Season of Service Partners:

 SCHOOL-BASED MENTORING

Programs exist throughout the county that match high-risk youth ages 4-18 with adult volunteer mentors in a classroom setting. These innovative programs allow mentors to work with a group of students individually or within a mentoring team.

CHILDREN OF PROMISE

After being screened through a formal application process, mentors are matched with a young person for a one-on-one mentoring experience.  Meeting for an hour a week, or four hours per month, the mentor offers guidance and assistance as the protégé (or mentee) faces new challenges, goes through a difficult experience, or works to remedy existing problems. Children of Promise is a supportive process and a rewarding experience for both the mentor and the mentee.

WORKFORCE AND LIFE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

A job is the best way out of poverty. Professional mentors provide peer-to-peer coaching and resources to adult individuals in need of additional support. From job training seminars to ongoing professional growth and developmental training, mentors provide the possibility of a secure financial future to targeted populations of adults and young adults.

YOUNGLIVES

YoungLives matches women with high school and middle school girls who are expecting or are raising a child on their own.  Mentors provide friendship, parenting advice and help meeting the practical demands of raising a child.
