Every community in San Diego has a school and a church.  They both serve the same population. There is no more natural community connection than that.  Severe budget cuts are providing unprecedented opportunities for churches to work together with schools for the good of the children in their community.

To find out how you can get involved meeting needs in schools, contact Nate Landis.

CityFest Season of Service School Partners:

SCHOOL CLEANUPS

Scheduling a general workday with the school principal is a great way to begin a church/school partnership. Principals desire community involvement and welcome assistance in fixing up the school grounds and facilities.  We encourage churches to take the initiative to contact the principals of the schools in their community.

EVERYONE A READER

This program, developed by the County Board of Education, provides classroom tutoring for grade school children in 150 schools throughout the county.  Reading one hour per week helps most children achieve grade level, which has significant impact of their future chances of success in school.

ADOPT A SCHOOL

Churches can have long-term impact in schools as they go beyond one-day projects, to serving the needs of both the staff and the students. More than 26 middle and high schools in San Diego have churches that provide services that include counseling, sports chaplains, lunchtime clubs, tutoring, and much more.  Your church can do the same in your community.
